Since my childhood living in Southeast Asia, photography has been a means to capture and understand the world around me. My adventure began in the 1970’s doing street photography in Thailand and Singapore. My camera has since always been my companion. Over the years, the purpose of my photography has remained largely unchanged: I endeavor to capture what most people would overlook and, thereby, provoke curiosity and emotional responses in the viewer. I trust that my work reveals life's ironies, epiphanies and mysteries.

When I recently moved to Oakland, I discovered the city with my camera. These images are meant to evoke Oakland's dynamism and diversity.

It was Robert Frank who said of his own work, "When people look at my pictures, I want them to feel the way they do when they want to reread a line of a poem."
